Baby Skin Care Tips

Baby Skin Care Tips

Babies are born with extremely soft and delicate skin. However, special care and attention must be adopted to prevent them from skin issues. The baby’s skin is usually winkled and covered with a creamy white substance called vernix. After a week of birth, these white substances peel off and new glowing skin is formed.

The baby’s skin must be properly handled to avoid disease and rashes. Bathing the baby frequently removes the natural oils which protect the baby’s skin from diseases. Because babies don’t get crazily dirty during the first few months, a sponge bath of 2 or 3 times a week is sufficient. Though, water can be used to wash their armpits and buttocks when necessary.

Apparently, adult creams should not be applied to the baby’s skin. The chemical components in the creams can cause skin irritation, rashes and dryness. Chemically related substance should be kept away from the baby’s skin. In this article, I will explain tips on how to care for baby’s skin.

Moisturising the Skin

Moisturising the skin is an important method of caring for the baby’s skin. To maintain a smooth and healthy skin, only make use of a good and quality moisturiser. This will replenish the lost nutrients which aid skin smoothening and glowing. The moisturiser should be applied three to four times daily.

Wash and Wear

Most towels and clothes used in covering babies after bath are made from chemicals which are harmful to the baby’s skin. Therefore, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strictly recommend washing new towels and clothing before usage. Also, avoid covering the baby’s body with used cloths, make sure used cloths or towels are thoroughly washed well before usage.

Don’t Use Adult Soap

Applying adult soap on the baby’s skin might cause damages to the skin. It may lead to skin peeling and skin dryness. Instead, you can make a homemade bath pack of raw milk and rose water. Apply the mixture slowly to your baby’s skin and wash it off with lukewarm water. Also, there are specially made baby soaps in the market, they contain less percentage of harmful chemicals which causes damages to the baby’s skin.

Hot Oil Massage

Hot oil massage is a very effective and easy way to enhance the baby’s skin. Soft massage on the skin with hot oil increases the layers of moistures on the baby’s skin. This helps restore the right balance of the oils in the skin cells. Hot oil massage is a sure way to achieve a glowing and shining healthy skin. Olive and almond oil are very good in this regard.

Conclusion

The baby skin is an important and essential part of the baby’s body that contributes to the baby’s well being. Taking proper care of it will enhance the baby’s growth and health. Get new towels and ignore those old new one, get baby moisturiser and baby detergents, and maintain the baby skin nutrients by applying a limited amount of water on daily basis. Adopting the highlighted tips in this article will not only enhance your baby’s skin, but also make them look and grow healthily.
